Day 136 to Day 149 - Visits and New Hampshire

(A brief note from Tech Support and Napkin: At this point we decided that we wanted to travel to Japan, with the excuse that Jon needed to go for a conference.  So between all the flights and Reflex's schedule, we were all almost in the same state at the same time!  :)  Here's Reflex's update from that time, where she was entering New Hampshire and experiencing the Green Mountains!  This is a THREE-part post, so don't miss the other two!  Enjoy!)

September 5th
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Day 149 - Christina came to visit!  Approximate mile marker: 1600

Christina came to visit (and hike, too!)

Here she is, ready to GO!

More trail magic: People do random acts of kindness all over the Trail.  It's absolutely incredible!!

Leaving MA and crossing over into VT!!  1,600 miles down!

My favorite quote.  Awesome!

Not only did she come up, visit, and hike with me...  Christina ALSO did my laundry- BY HAND!!
$8 was too steep to get it done at the laundromat, so this was round two of water, still super green!

Continuing thru Vermont now, after Christina's visit.

A nice sample of Vermud.  (Note from Tech Support: Looks a whole lot like Adirondack mud to me!  Such lovely stuff, and sticks to everything!)

A pretty plant I came across along the hike.  I wonder if it's edible?

Sunset from a fire tower.  Not too shabby, eh?

Treetops from the same viewpoint!

More views from the same.  So peaceful.

There have been tons of beaver bogs in VT.

Another older trail marker for one of the several bits of the Trail.

Continuing along the Trail, now approaching Stratton Mountain.  Approximate mile marker: 1640

So we had heard about this along the Trail and didn't believe it...  On top of Stratton Mountain there was a gondola that went to the bottom of the mountain.

So of COURSE we took it down to explore!

Pharaoh, Scarab, and Treetrunks (left to right) gondola riding.

Here is the hidden mountain town!

Turns out it was not-so-hidden for the rest of the world.  They had live music AND beer tastings!

They even had canned wine!  And of course, FOOD!  Yum!

Here's Red, Scarab, and Underpass (left to right).  Red was a 2015 hiker who bought us all a beer.  Thanks!  :)

Here's Treetrunks and Andrew (Denim).

Some more fun in town before it was back to the Trail.

We took the last gondola ride back up at 5:30 and hiked 3 miles to a stealth spot.

I really must complement my photography skills here.  So many sights to see!

Patches at the hostel.  #hikertrash

Need a pair of shoes, leave a pair of shoes...

Sunsets are kinda my thing.  Good thing there are plenty of these to see. :)

Continuing on to Baker Mountain, approximate mile marker: 1655.

Solo camping on Baker Mountain

Nice views.  I'm really good with my phone camera.  :)

Pine needle trail

Was it aliens?  Bored hikers?  Entertained hikers?  Regardless, a rock garden!  Lots and lots of CAIRNS!

 Another rock garden!!

Now at mile marker 1700, at Killington!!!
