Day 78 to Day 99 - Aqua Blazing and the Mental Halfway Point!
(A brief note from Tech Support and Napkin: Everything has become a little jumbled for a lot of reasons so sorry for the delay. We have reconstructed the time line as best as we can. Dates are off depending on when Reflex sent the pictures and info. The weather has been atrocious in PA with lots of flooding and workarounds just to stay on the trail. However, as they say in showbiz, the show must go on!! This is a THREE-part post, so don't miss the other two! Enjoy!)
Monday, June 25th through Saturday June 30th
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Day 78 - 83: Major hiking days – going along the Trail including the Guillotine, spanning from Daleville (729.2) to Waynesboro (863.2)
Sunday, July 1st through Saturday, July 7th
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Day 84 - 90: Aqua Blazing down to mile marker 1004 at Watermelon Park
Glen came down to visit Reflect and they did an Aqua Blaze for a while. Here, they're enjoying canoeing down the river!
Cruised under this rope swing and Reflex seamlessly grabbed it and puller herself out of the canoe! Epic. (What Reflexes she must have!) ;)
Another rendezvous with Hikertrash along the river. We all get to relax together!
On an island right by Front Royal to camp! Reflex experienced some angel magic for the last 2 nights. :)
(Images are of the shore at night and in daylight.)
Red sky at night, sailors' delight!
I met some great people on the river two nights in a row that fed us and beered us! Only got a pic of this guy. Thank you!
Aqua Blaze spotting recap: 12 bald eagles and 12 osprey. For land critters, 1 bear and 2 cubs were seen and lots of big fish were swimming along. There were a CRAP TON of great blue herons also, unfortunately due to technical difficulties of electronics not being compatible with water there are no pictures of the sightings. Go out and look for them if you want! :)
Sunday, July 8th
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Day 91
Reflex's FAVORITE cyclists! (Her hike was on Sarge's route for his 500 mile bike ride to support Anchor House, an organization that provides comprehensive programming to assist in solving the problems of runaway and homeless youth and their families. They were able to meet up along with Dave, Sarge's biking companion.) Reflex wasn't able to come in her "hooligan" gear, but she was still able to come out of the forest/ off the trail to come support them!
Monday, July 9th
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Day 92
Sarge crossing the AT mile marker 1034.8 in Maryland (notice the white trailblazer!)
Thursday, July 12
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Day 95
Napkin stopped by and met with Reflex on the Trail again. Today is Reflex's last day in Virginia. Tomorrow is Harper's Ferry (the mental halfway point of the Trail)
No state sign for the first crossing into West Virginia. Oh well, at least it looks like smooth sailing to the shelter, with these kinds of views!
Friday, July 13th
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Day 96 - Harper's Ferry, West Virginia at mile marker 1024.1
The ATC (Appalachian Trail Conservancy) takes Polaroids of hikers for a small fee to commemorate hikers making it to this important landmark.
Saturday, July 14th through Monday July 16th
Sam's AT Mileage Tracker: Days 97 - 99: Maryland, Reflex crossed same spot as Sarge's AT cyclist crossing at mile marker 1034.8
A subliminal hint? Maybe it's time we took a break...
Does this pose look familiar? We promise Reflex isn't hiking with a bike! It sure was lucky that one was around for her to pose with though, ne? G-Hippie met up with Reflex and helped slack-pack her today.

Good luck butterfly!
Once again, the diversity of the Trail is beautiful and awe inspiring.
This shelter snuck up on me!
The view from a new privy (Oh! The luxury!)
One of the many trail volunteers maintaining the Trail. Thanks for all of your work, Nancy!!!
Met up with Hikertrash again!
The trail log from a shelter, I need to catch up apparently!
Here's a great looking shelter along the Trail!
Nature is so amazing. New wine glass ideas are everywhere! :)
The Guillotine (mile marker 770.5)
Longest footbridge on the AT.

Met a little friend (and a bunch more) on the Trail, too!
Left and hard left markings along the Trail.
